Experiencing God In Your 20's

Life as a young woman in your 20's is not for the faint of heart! Especially if you desire to grow in your relationship with Jesus. Some of your friends are starting families while others are living up the single life. Some are buying houses while others are still in college. Everyone is struggling in their relationships with guys, with their parents and with friends. It can be hard to find the time and energy to focus on Jesus in the middle of all of that. We want to give you a day to discover how to experience God right now with other young women in the same situation so that you might find peace and purpose in your life.

Topics include: Obey God’s commands and watch what happens, Finding peace in the midst of chaos and Learning about God’s call on your life.

Inspiring Speakers

Native to Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jocelyn spent several summers and 2 full years serving at Ingham Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camps. She brings many years of experience in performing arts from choir, theater, acapella groups, playing guitar and keyboard, and being raised in a family of musicians and worship leaders. By day, she is a Patient Experience Coordinator for a local eyecare clinic. By night and weekend, she helps lead worship at church, volunteers with children's ministry, and performs music in local venues alongside her mother as the acoustic duo Jocelyn Olivia & Brenda Lee. Jocelyn's original music can be found online on streaming platforms and on CD. She performs in local venues alongside her momma (as our acoustic duo: Jocelyn Olivia & Brenda Lee).

Originally from Johnston, Iowa, Morgan attended Iowa State University where she received her degree in Business Administration and certificate in Leadership Development. More importantly, that season of life is where she discovered the step from religion to a relationship with God. Over the next two years, she traveled over North America working with collegiate women in Greek Life, which led her to an organization called Adventures in Missions. In August of 2016, she did one of their programs called the World Race, where she traveled to 11 countries over the course of 11 months, partnering with local mission organizations in each location. Following this experience, she felt led to work with a "Business as Mission" (BAM) in Bangkok, Thailand. While there, she connected with missionaries from all over the world! After a year, she moved to Mijas, Spain for a Discipleship Training School to grow in her faith and learn more about the Business as Mission model. She joined staff shortly after graduation and worked with the organization until 2021, at which point God opened the door for her to move back home as a Student Ministry and Missions Coordinator at Hope+Elim in Des Moines, Iowa.
This journey has had mountain top moments of celebration and nearness to God, balanced with valleys where she was stretched and grew deeper in love with Jesus. In her free time, Morgan loves to read, listen to podcasts, walk, explore Des Moines, drink coffee (while discovering new coffee shops), and, of course, spend time with her friends and family (specifically her besties - Her two-year-old nephew and three-month-old niece).

Renae Behrends is the Lead Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer Iowa, the Camp Director at Ingham Okoboji Bible Camp and serves on the Board of Trustees for LCMC. Renae also serves on the Grand Ave Community Outreach Board which serves those in need in the Spencer and surrounding communities.

Renae is married to Brian Behrends and together they have 5 children. Andrea (who passed away when she was 11 years old), Emily 26, Caitlyn 22,

Antawn 26, Elle 23. Renae managed Walmart stores for about 20 years before she entered the ministry.

Renae has a passion for connecting with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Renae states, “There is a popular camp song call I Thank God by Maverick City Music that pretty

much sums up my Faith Story. The lyrics say, ‘He picked me up, He turned me around, He placed

my feet on solid ground. I thank the Master. I thank the Savior. I thank God.’ I am always in awe

of how faithful our God is and how He is always at work in our lives.

I am excited to connect with all of you.”
